We honor him always. Horse-riders are gathered at the very sight of his death and are about to begin their 2-week journey to Wounded Knee to honor the ancestors. Sitting Bull’s quote above evidences an independence-sovereignty and a non-reliance on the government (tribal or federal) to meet our needs. It is applicable now more than ever as we all fight to shake the chains of blind consumerism; Sitting Bull was not in the majority and neither are we but we do not need the majority to create change -we’ve got to continue his legacy.
